Ballet Spring Party Perfection

Treating herself to an evening of culture, Natalie Portman was spotted at the 2010 New York City Ballet Spring Gala on April 29. The Garden State gal looked amazing as she arrived at the Lincoln Center sporting a super sexy red and beige dress with matching heels. Ms. Portman was in the house to support her main squeeze Benjamin Millepied, who is the principal dancer for the New York City Ballet. Natalie also got the producers of her new film Black Swan to hire Benjamin as the movie’s choreographer.

Troublesome Anthony Hopkins?

Sir Anthony Hopkins is reportedly causing problems on the set of Thor. The British-born actor, who plays the role of Odin in the movie, is said to be directing his co-star Chris Hemsworth, who is struggling to deal with the criticism. An insider told the New York Daily News newspaper: “Anthony has not tried to hide his disapproval of Chris’ acting skills. Chris is definitely the least-experienced actor on set, but he’s trying. “He respects Anthony a great deal, and it looks like he’s trying to grin and bear all of his criticism.” However, director Kenneth Branagh is apparently getting annoyed at Anthony’s pessimistic attitude. The source added: “Anthony keeps complaining that they’re shooting too many scenes inside the Los Angeles studio and not enough on location. “He isn’t used to this kind of work, and his pessimism is really starting to wear everyone down.” Problems are also continuing on set because of the level of technical expertise needed, with some scenes currently being shot in New Mexico taking longer than had been anticipated. The insider said: “Everyone is cranky and frustrated that it’s taking so long. But it’s a very high-tech movie, and it just takes time to get things right.” Thor – which also stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster – is due for release in the UK on May 20, 2011.

Check Out the First Picture of Thor!

For all the current buzz about Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 2, which has already opened in some regions and opens in the U.S. on May 7, there’s already a slightly lower hum generating for Marvel’s next movie, the first feature film based on Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s Norse God Thor. Although the movie has been shooting for months, it’s somewhat surprising how little has gotten out other than a recent spy picture, so many have been wondering when we might get a chance to see the film’s unconventional choice to play the Thunder God, little known Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, in costume. Well, the wait is over as we have received the very first picture of just that. You can check out Hemsworth in the Thor costume (sans his mighty hammer Mjolnir) below! Thor opens on May 6, 2011.
